Heritage Pens Fights Autism

Over the past three years I have worked on taking the traditionally two-dimensional jigsaw puzzle design and applying it to the world of pens. The design has undergone several changes during this time, finally resulting in several different forms which are available through us. The "Original Jigsaw Puzzle" is made from American ash. The "Tie-Dyed Jigsaw Puzzle" takes off on the original by introducing a rainbow of color. The "New Jigsaw Puzzle" goes yet a step further by incorporating 18 different woods. A fourth version, completed in beautifully dyed and professionally stabilized woods, is now available. This has led me to create a four color puzzle pen to raise funds for the fight against autism.
The new autism puzzle combines light and dark blue, yellow and red pieces with a couple of gray/black pieces representing the missing piece of the autism puzzle. These puzzle pens are available as a ballpoint, roller ball or fountain pen as well as a mechanical pencil.
Autism is a complex neurobiological disorder that typically lasts throughout a person's lifetime. It is part of a group of disorders known as autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Today, 1 in 150 individuals is diagnosed with autism, making it more common than pediatric cancer, diabetes, and AIDS combined. These special writing instruments will have a portion of the proceeds donated to numerous autism research and support groups.
My involvement in autism relates directly to friends (Don, Shirley, Todd, Dawn, Shane) who cope with the daily difficulties of raising an autistic child. Having been blessed with two healthy children, this is my way of giving back.
